Dr. Stiles-Glazer has been a licensed counseling Psychologist for 35 years. She provides psychotherapy for adults, adolescents and children, specializing in anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder, including adult sexual abuse recovery. She also has a specialty in family therapy, helping couples working on pre-marital, marital, intimacy, and divorce concerns. Family therapy with all members and parenting support are provided when appropriate.
Other areas of specialty include: facilitating career development, diet and exercise support, acute and chronic illness management, pain management, and death and grief understanding.
Dr. Stiles-Glazer utilizes various therapeutic modalities, including examining family of origin issues, empathic communication development, relaxation and breathing techniques, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and interpersonal awareness development within sessions. She works with whatever goals each client presents to assist in individual understanding of the fabric of the client’s life. Dr. Stiles-Glazer taught at the University of Miami in the Department of Counselor Education for more than 10 years, leaving as a tenured associate professor to pursue her private practice in Miami. At UM she specialized in teaching and researching clinical supervision, women’s issues, human sexuality, family violence/sexual abuse, and group psychotherapy.
She received her Master’s Degree in Guidance from Harvard University, where she was also a special student at the law school studying juvenile delinquency. She received her Doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of Miami in Counseling Psychology. In 1991, she was appointed by Governor Lawton Chiles to a battered women’s syndrome panel.
Dr. Stiles-Glazer moved from a very enjoyable 20-year psychology practice in Miami to Gainesville 15 years ago and is enjoying her new community.
Dr. Stiles-Glazer arranges her appointments and can be reached directly by leaving a message at (305) 720-4472. She is not on any insurance panels and will discuss fees with each client who calls. She gives special consideration to students. She has afternoon appointments available. She will respond to direct cell phone calls or message from clients experiencing emergencies whenever possible.
